Winter has been a very busy time up at the Peak. We have changed our Ger Mother for the Foster Care programme, started the vocational & employment training programmes in earnest, the Tourism English Classes are underway and, as always, 129 children have a warm, safe place to learn, great food to eat and friends to play with at the Children of the Peak Sanctuary and 22 people - 7 of them from the garbage dump - have employment with full paid benefits - not a small thing in the harsh economic climate in Mongolia at the moment.
Over the winter, along with our regular wonderful supporters (please see the list at the bottom of the page!) we have had a chance to work with the teachers and students from the American School of Ulaanbaatar, Turkish School and Erdene Tugs School. We have received regular donations in kind from Schultze Global investments, Miat Mongolia, Gatsuurt LLC and a whole host of private donors.
We are honoured and grateful for the ongoing support of so many people. Without our fantastic cadre of volunteers and generous donors none of this would be possible. YOU are making a difference...once child at a time!
We have had food deliveries, coal deliveries, community outreach by individuals, schools, businesses, and other community service groups in the last quarter. It has been wonderful to see how the local community and staff members have really pitched in to get the donated items to the people who really need them!
One of our top priorities along with immediate news of people in our community is to help the people who live in our are and who we help develop into a true community. To that, much needs to be done to improve the nearly non existent infrastructure in the area. Here's what we are doing...
