A Message from Alisha:
I feel incredibly privileged to be selected for the 2024 Gobi Gallop Charity horse ride. What makes this even more special, is that through the Steel Horse Gallop, my father will be able to join me in what will be the biggest adventure of a life time.
Horses run through my blood many generations back. My grandfather was one of the last true drovers moving livestock all through the eastern country side of Australia. I was very fortunate to spend time with him learning his ways with the horses. I've since spent many years in the saddle & around horses learning everything I can. I currently have a handful of wonderful horses that I love to compete in Showjumping with. Although this is a great love of mine, I'm now looking for the next equine adventure that'll give me the adrenaline rush I'm always seeking.
Follow me to Mongolia 1km at a time as I prepare to ride 700+km in 10 days on the the native Mongolian horses. A few years back, I'd become thoroughly engrossed with the whole Mongolian culture on horse back. I'd heard about the Gobi gallop through a family member & decided that this would be a wonderful way to travel experiencing the culture & scenery on horseback while raising funds to help children in need. Mongolia is home to a rich nomadic culture that has been preserved for centuries. Despite the country's vast natural resources, many of its inhabitants live in poverty, particularly the children. Fortunately, there are a number of charities that are working to improve the lives of these kids. One such organization is the Veloo foundation, which prides itself on providing & improving the education and other essential services to underprivileged children in the country. The Gobi Gallop charity horse ride is an excellent example of how charities can make a positive impact on children's education in rural areas. This initiative is helping to build a brighter future for the children of Mongolia.
