The Gobi Gallop seems to me to be just the right way to combine three things that are important to me: horses; travel/learning about the world; and helping people. I think one gets to understand a place and its people much better in such a framework (i.e., with a project or goal of some kind), and what better than doing it from horseback?!

The Gobi Gallop: combining a challenging ride with an opportunity to gather support for a very worthwhile project. I am covering all of the expenses for the trip myself. Therefore, all of the money donated and raised will go directly to support the work of the Veloo Foundation in Mongolia, a charity registered in Canada.

I am thrilled to be joining the Gobi Gallop 2023, which will see our group honor the legacy of Mongolian horsemanship by travelling across 700 kilometers of Mongolian countryside on native horses under the direction of local guides. At the time of this writing, the route is yet to be determined but may include steppe, plain, river crossings and more, but one fact is certain—we will #chafeforcharity in order to raise funds for the Veloo Foundation’s Children of the Peak Project.
