As a result, his fundraising requirement for this year's Steel Horse Gallop has been met!!! |
A Message from Tom Noll & Lynn Marks:

February 2022, we were at a convention for our endurance organization. We saw a booth for a trek in Mongolia and we bought three tickets for a 50% off trek with The Blue Wolf Totem. The next day we found out that we won! When talking to Tom about this we decided to make this a trip last longer than two weeks, we made it a full month and more with the Veloo Foundation for July 2023. We wanted to understand the people, horses, and the culture. Julie showed us all sides of this country and its struggles.
Many of the nomadic people were losing their livelihood out on the Steppe due to something they don’t have control over, weather. This last winter it was -41 degrees and took the lives of 750,000 animals and at the same time taking away the traditional herding life from many families. This isn’t the first year this has happened. It is happening more frequently and creating more loss of livelihood. We are excited to support this Non-profit organization, the Veloo Foundation. First, one-hundred-percent, all, every last dollar, of your donation goes directly to children and families relying on the Veloo Foundation. The Veloo Foundation founders cover all operating expenses themselves making this a very special place. In 2013 the Veloo Foundation created a way for these families and children to find a new existence. Rather than scavenging for food and items in the dump and being lost in a “new culture” she established, and manages, Narnii Huuhduud Kindergarten (Children of the Peak Sanctuary) 1&2, Soaring Crane Summer Camp and the Gandys Community Library for the Ulaanchuluut community.

The Children of the Peak Sanctuary provides a kindergarten, learning center for older children, and the Fran London Sewing Center, teaching women how to sew, to make warm clothes for the children and other items to sell to raise money for the sanctuary. We fell in love with Julie’s vision and know that her success will be the success of many generations to come. Lynn participated with a mother and daughter working together in the sewing center to adapt a piece of her adventure clothing before we left on our trek. We are committed to the 2024 Gobi Gallop and Steel Horse Gallop. We are a husband and wife team from the Redwood Coast of Northern California participating in the dual gallop events this year. Unlike 2023, when we both rode horses on our trek, Tom is riding the Steel Horse Gallop and Lynn is riding the Gobi Gallop. Who knows, we may even exchange Lynn’s horse for Tom’s motorcycle for part of the gallop! We are riding to support the Mongolian families and Mongolian culture, and continue our adventure together. Or goal is to raise more than the amount of money required for these beautiful people.
