Meet Tom...our Fearless Leader

With the world now opened up again there is now the chance to enjoy Mongolia like never before, granted it isn't on many peoples lists of holiday destinations, but it has so much to offer that the top 10 lists don't.
Those of you who get to come on this adventure will understand this is written by me and not some English professor with all the big words and spin phrases, this is why I do it and joined this fantastic organisation to help where I can and besides I double dare you to try and say no to Julie or Chelvan. Their passion for this (project seems wrong as the word project seems to have an end to it), this is a labour of love for them both and it is infectious, so we all do what we can, when we can.
Arriving in country no later than 7th June 2023 (you can arrive whenever you like earlier) you will have 2 days to get over jet lag and visit the reason you are here. We will pay a visit to the Kindergarten, it will be something that will stay with you forever, to see the faces of kids whom, without the money raised would be left to fend for themselves as parents and older siblings go off the scavenge on the city dump, to try and find something they can fix to sell or just sell on because someone didn't need it anymore. This lifestyle is a 24/7 operation with people coming and going all day and all night meaning rest is at a premium and formal education is a luxury they can't afford. The kindergarten offers the children somewhere safe and warm to be, to learn and to thrive.
When we head to the start point I hope you will take advantage of the trip, to relax and enjoy the tourist scene of countryside whizzing past you, because the next morning you will not be travelling along a metalled road you will be in the countryside, being forced by nature to slow down and just enjoy.
One of the main reasons your trusty bike is what it is, is the nature of the bike itself. This is not about speed from A to B this is about enjoying the time and the "wind therapy" that and not tearing up The Steppe, the few and I mean few people you will see depend on The Steppe, we are just passing through, but the hospitality you will be shown from people who have very little and even less spare will take your breath away and even a old cynic like me has been brought to a tear from time to time.

Meet Zulaa - Our Camp Boss
You will be in good hands from the second you arrive from the plane to the time we drop you back to the airport. Zulaa, an experience host from Horse Trek Mongolia is thrilled to be expanding his tour hosting repertoire to work with Tom to include yet ANOTHER great adventure that will help Mongolian children.
Our whole reason for creating this trip, in fact, was to help the children yes but also to show the Mongolia we love and enjoy so much. As Tom says..."Having really only been here 3 years, it is not a national pride that makes me love this place it is this place and its people that make me love it, yes I know you will be tired you will be sore and you will very likely never think you could ever love Mongolia, but by the time you reach your first transfer hub airport you will feel differently; and yes almost everyday we say "Wow Mongolia!" |
