A message from Richard:
I feel incredibly privileged to be selected for the 2024 Steel Horse Gallop Charity motorcycle ride. What makes this even more special, is that my daughter will be riding a horse in the Gobi Gallop, I will be able to join her in what will be the biggest adventure of our life time.
I started riding motorcycles as soon as I was old enough and the passion hasn't faded. The first bike I bought was a dirt bike and I raced mx and enduros in my teens and 20s. Racing is expensive and I was on apprentice wages. So I had to learn how to repair and prepare my machines myself.
Motorcycles have been in my blood for more than 50 years.
These days my daily rides are a triumph street triple rs for fun and a suzuki SV650 as a work horse.
I consider myself to be a traveller, not a tourist. I have travelled around europe and china and on these journeys I like to explore the areas to learn how the locals live.
I've now found the next riding adventure that'll give me the buzz I'm needing.
The Steel Horse Gallop will allow me to experience Mongolia and the people and at the same time raise funds to help the children in need.
Follow me to Mongolia 1km at a time as I prepare to ride a motorcycle 1000+ km. I'd heard about the Steel Horse Gallop through a family member & motorcycles are my favourite way to travel, experiencing the weather, culture & scenery.
Mongolia is home to a rich nomadic culture that has been preserved for centuries. Despite the country's vast natural resources, many of its inhabitants live in poverty, particularly the children. Fortunately, there are a number of charities that are working to improve the lives of these kids. One such organization is the Veloo foundation, which prides itself on providing & improving the education and other essential services to underprivileged children in the country. The Steel Horse Gallop charity motorcycle ride is an excellent example of how charities can make a positive impact on children's education in rural areas. This initiative is helping to build a brighter future for the children of Mongolia.
