Hello! Rachael Lundin here and let me first just say, thank you for visiting this page!
Every year the Veloo Foundation organizes the longest charity ride, ON THE PLANET, for the sole purpose of raising money for children living in poverty in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. As any child expert will tell you, early intervention in children’s lives makes a huge difference. And often the only way out of poverty is through education. Building awareness, knowledge, skills, and self-esteem, essentially builds dreamers and gives those same dreamers tools to be successful. Can there be a noble effort?
And guess what! You get the chance to be a part of it. Your donation buys you a front row virtual seat to my journey and I can’t wait to share it with you.
In September 2021, I will fly to Mongolia, get on a horse, and ride cross country for 10 days, traveling 700 km. I will be with a group of between 10 to 20 individuals who have all completed the application and interview process to be accepted on the team. We will ride Mongolian ponies who ancestors carried the likes of Genghis Khan and his armies across this same ground. We will sleep in Gers (think yurts), eat traditional foods, learn Mongolian songs, and glimpse life from the perspective of one of the last nomadic cultures.
I, like every one of my team mates, will raise $4000 minimum each which all goes to benefit these children. Upon completion of our trek, we will attend the annual Gala and Silent auction where we will assist in further fund raising. And, COVID 19, permitting, when we are there, we will get to tour the school and meet the children in person.
