There should be no competition between solidarity and social justice initiatives for a more sustainable world. This what brought us together, Julie from Veloo Foundation, and us, Sabine and Manon, from the French NGO Agronomes and Vétérinaires Sans Frontières. Our common goal is to inclusively support those in needs, so that they can think of tomorrow with hope. In the steppes, for the last 20 years, AVSF has been working hand in hand with nomadic herders from very remote areas of Mongolia so that they can gain resilience to climate changes, defend their rights, access to services such as animal health, better valorize their animal products and innovate on ways to reduce their impacts on pasturelands. In the capital, Veloo Foundation contributes to a better day-to-day life and thus opens windows of opportunities for kids and young people, offering them a perspective towards a better future, far away from the landfills and insecurity. Their actions allow them to dream and dream big. Together, we can, and we will, build bridges between our actions. Because kids of the ger districts need not forget they come from a country with a powerful identity and incredible natural resources. We will bring them together so that nomadic herders can make kids dream of freedom in the steppes, and kids can make nomadic herders’ eyes shine with pride. |
A message from Manon:
Those who know me, know that you cannot spend a day in my company without hearing a story about horses. I am proudly labelled what my friends call a “Passion Poney”: being with horses has always been my happy place. And this tends to me even truer here, under the Eternal blue sky and in the vast steppes of Mongolia. If you ask me, there is no better way to feel and understand Mongolia than from a horseback. That’s why, to conclude my three years’ experience in this beautiful, but also harsh country, I’ve decided to challenge myself with a 700kms horse trek adventure. And what’s more, a philanthropic one! This is not a regular endurance race. The physical challenge will merely be personal. The most important challenge being to raise up to 10.000 USD together with my colleague and friend Sabine, to contribute our little stone to the inspiring and great work done by Veloo Foundation, giving to our adventure a special commitment. From the moment I sit my butt on a saddle, I smile from ear to ear. Please, donate to help Veloo Foundation keep making the kids from UB smile as well. |
A message from Sabine:
I've been working with nomadic herders in Mongolia since 2021, as part of the NGO AVSF. I visit them twice a year, mainly in the Gobi and Arkhangaï regions. I was lucky enough to spend a few days riding at Saraa's ger camp, and got to know the Mongolian horses, whose endurance and reliability I appreciated. Discovering Mongolia a little more outside a professional context, and moreover on horseback, a high symbol of Mongolian culture, would be a real opportunity and would enable me to deepen my encounter with Mongolia. |
