Mongolian Adventure!
Hello, my name is Kendle Leitz and I am from Vancouver Island, Canada.
I am an avid traveler, and find myself returning to Mongolia for riding as often as possible. I have been on horseback since a very young age, though this will be the most intense ride I think I will ever accomplish.
3600kms in 84 days! Epic!
Mongolia is a vast country going through rapid change. Families, who once were nomadic herders, have had to uproot their lives and move into the capitol city of Ulaanbaatar and have slipped through the cracks. Being a herder, these skills though impressive, aren’t transferable to city living. These proud people who once lived off the land are having to survive by scavenging the garbage dump. I have seen first-hand the need of families who survive by picking through Ulaanbaatar’s main landfill. Children scavenging with their parents or staying at home by themselves, or with siblings while their parents scavenge for food, clothing, fuel, and things they can sell. I have also seen the differences in the lives of entire families due to the Veloo Foundation’s work in Mongolia. Supporting these families by providing a safe, nourishing, educational facility for children, as well as helping to get the parents off the dump by providing them with training.
Your donation will go directly to the hundreds of children who are under the care of the Veloo Foundation’s “Children of the Peak” project. Providing these children with education, 3 warm meals, hygiene, clothing, community and safety 5 days a week. I am paying my own way and no money raised goes towards my cost of the ride. Every little bit helps to make a difference, one child at a time.
Thank you.
