Another Amazing M0ngolian Endurance Challenge to Help the Children!
Once you find yourself under the spell of the eternal blue sky, it’s impossible to resist! 2024 will be my fifth trip to the other side of my planet – and it might as well be to a different planet altogether. I grew up in Chicago and have lived in or very close to a half dozen major cities in North America, never knowing what I was missing. When I moved to South Carolina about 15 years ago, I discovered horses and endurance riding and what it means to be out under a sky where you can actually see the stars. Now I find it very difficult to spend any appreciable amount of time in a city – and not on a horse.
After attempting the Mongol Derby in 2017, and completing a trip to a Tsaatan Reindeer camp in 2018, I discovered the Veloo Foundation and applied for the Gobi Gallop 2020. COVID had other plans for all of us and by the time the world opened up, I was on the roster for the Blue Wolf Totem Expedition in 2022. Far from satisfying the craving for the scent of sage on the steppes, the 3600km/84 day trip left me wanting more. So I went back for the Gobi Gallop 2023 – and am now registered for the Gobi Gallop 2024. The Foundation does such critically important work for the Mongolian Children in so many different ways that it just makes sense to keep supporting them. I’m hoping you will too!
