A Message from Jude:
“Free as a Mongol horse.”
This has become my motto as I prepare to take part in the 2027 Gobi Gallop—the longest annual endurance charity ride on the planet. Covering 700 kilometers across the vast Mongolian steppe in just 10 days, this journey will test every part of me, both physically and mentally.
Mongolia’s endless landscapes and open skies embody a rare and powerful sense of freedom. Riding across the steppe, I imagine what it must feel like to be truly untethered—free, strong, and connected to something bigger. That is the spirit I carry with me into this challenge.
At the heart of this journey is a cause that matters deeply. I will be raising funds for the Veloo Foundation, which supports children and families living in the garbage dump communities of Mongolia. These children face daily struggles for basic necessities like food, education, and healthcare. Being able to ride for them gives this challenge a purpose far greater than myself.
My path here has not been a typical one. I only began horse riding just over a year ago, in my 50s. Taking on something of this scale so soon is both daunting and empowering—but it reflects where I am in life.
After years of living around the world supporting my husband’s career and raising our two amazing sons, I now find myself in a new chapter as an empty nester. While I am incredibly proud of my family, I have also felt a sense of being lost—unsure of who I am and searching for purpose again.
This journey is about more than endurance. It’s about rediscovery. It’s about finding the woman I once was—and becoming someone new. It’s about proving that it is never too late to challenge yourself, to grow, and to feel truly alive again.
Thank you to my friends and family for believing in me and supporting me every step of the way. Your encouragement gives me strength as I take on this adventure—not just for myself, but for the children who need it most.
