Heading out on June 3rd - 2023, our intrepid riders and crew will be taking on one of the most epic rides in history as they tackle the wilds of Mongolia to raise money to help some of the neediest children on the planet - the children who scavenge in the garbage to survive! The riders will be taking on the challenge of riding the longest annual charity horseback ride in the world with a goal of
700 kilometers in 10 days of riding!

As our biggest annual fundraiser community support for the Gobi Gallop each year is pivotal in our ability to continue the programmes we operate at the Children of the Peak Project.

Introducing The Riders of the 2023 Gobi Gallop
In honour of her mother and her mother's love of helping children and her own childhood on the wide, wild outback Sara is coming back to Mongolia to take on this wonderful challenge, to experience the freedom of Mongolia on horseback again AND to make a difference in the lives of hundreds of Mongolian children in need.

The Gobi Gallop seems to me to be just the right way to combine three things that are important to me: horses; travel/learning about the world; and helping people. I think one gets to understand a place and its people much better in such a framework (i.e., with a project or goal of some kind), and what better than doing it from horseback?!
|
The Gobi Gallop: combining a challenging ride with an opportunity to gather support for a very worthwhile project. I am covering all of the expenses for the trip myself. Therefore, all of the money donated and raised will go directly to support the work of the Veloo Foundation in Mongolia, a charity registered in Canada.

I am thrilled to be joining the Gobi Gallop 2023, which will see our group honor the legacy of Mongolian horsemanship by travelling across 700 kilometers of Mongolian countryside on native horses under the direction of local guides. At the time of this writing, the route is yet to be determined but may include steppe, plain, river crossings and more, but one fact is certain—we will #chafeforcharity in order to raise funds for the Veloo Foundation’s Children of the Peak Project.

Julie, as the one of the Founders of the Gobi Gallop and the Vice President of Veloo Foundation has ridden this wonderful adventurous fundraising challenge every year for 10 years AND once alone on the Covid Edition of the ride, the Gobi Gallop Solo Challenge.
She is honoured and humbled by the number of people from around the world who continue to come and ride and help her help the children AND by all of their wonderful supporters. THANK YOU ALL! |
