"Helping the most vulnerable citizens seems an appropriate way to repay the Mongolian people we will meet along the way for their incredible hospitality and generosity in sharing the wonders and secrets of their beautiful country with us."

The Blue Wolf Totem Expedition is an amazing opportunity to raise  funds for the Veloo Foundation’s Children Of The Peak Sanctuary  Project. Their initiative is dedicated to empowering, and changing the  lives of disadvantaged children of displaced nomadic families in the  Ulaanbaatar neighbourhood in Mongolia who have been forced to  survive from what they and their families could scavenge from the local  dump. The Veloo Foundation’s commitment to feed, educate, nurture  and contribute to healing through love; all the while advocating for their  mothers to find new purpose and meaning in their lives, is nothing short  of miraculous.

"There is something so magical about this country that it just fills my soul. The people are the most welcoming, hospitable people I’ve ever met.
Now I’m blessed with the opportunity to ride the length and breadth of Mongolia to raise funds for the Veloo Foundation. I’m excited to part of fund raising for this incredible foundation that is changing the lives and futures of families"

"I have always had a longing for adventure and have found, over the last 4 years, that Mongolia fills this longing. I am thrilled to have been given the extraordinary opportunity to ride in this new adventure, an incredible 3,600 kms in 84 days across Mongolia. The Blue Wolf Totem Charity Ride is not just about me having a grand adventure, it’s also about raising funds for this important humanitarian cause."

I’m excited to explore the untamed terrain, visit the communities, and immerse myself in the culture. The Blue Wolf Totem Ride will fulfill all of these things in spades, as well as provide a multitude of sites and adventures I have yet to imagine.

Mongolia is a vast country going through rapid change. Families, who once were nomadic herders, have had to uproot their lives and move into the capitol city of Ulaanbaatar and have slipped through the cracks. Being a herder, these skills though impressive, aren’t transferable to city living. These proud people who once lived off the land are having to survive by scavenging the garbage dump.

The country is incredible, the photos never do it justice, and the people are some of the friendliest and most hospitable I've ever met.  I never thought however that it would be like this...  The Blue Wolf Totem Charity Ride will be an adventure like no other, and the only way to see the real Mongolia, by horseback. And the best part is the opportunity to raise money for such a great cause, the Veloo Foundation and the Children of the Peak Sanctuary.

What an exciting opportunity to be selected to ride possibly the longest charity ride in history, the Blue Wolf Totem Ride. To have the ability, to raise awareness and support for children in Mongolia is just naturally my next big step!

When I was 9 my father gave me my first horse, to train. As I grew, my love for children and horses grew. Each horse, each person I have worked with, has influenced me for good. With my best friend, my husband, I have raised 6 of my own children. This has led me to a rich and wonderful life.

Changing peoples lives, one horse at a time.

I am really happy and proud to be one of the 15 lucky riders chosen for this expedition. More than what this trek represents, I hope to inspire girls and women in my community and around to believe in themself and do what they really want to. No matter where you come from, no matter how much money you have, you can accomplish big things. No matter who you are, you can make a difference in the world!

. I am (we are) getting this amazing opportunity to discover all the hidden gems and wonders of the locals in each community we pass through in one epic horseback riding adventure - the longest charity ride in history!

I’m hoping that by bringing awareness of the Veloo Foundations efforts to provide a school and haven for the Mongolian children who survive on the garbage dump in Ulanbaatar that I’ll at a minimum be able to reach my fundraising goal.

I have been dreaming of riding in Mongolia for many years. I want to experience their way of life and see the history. The fact that this ride is also being arranged to help a good cause is just a huge bonus. The challenge of this ride excites my inner adventurer and a challenge like this is going to make me a better, stronger person when I return home

Growing up isolated in rural Australia meant  I had a fairly narrow outlook on the world at large. I was however, an avid reader and from a young age. I used to read with an atlas on one side and a dictionary on the other. Wilbur Smith, James A Michener  and James Clavell the stalwarts of the 1970s bookshelf inspired a passion for the world and travel that has never waned.
I was lucky enough to have parents that valued education (and allowed me age 9 to read grown up books) and be born in a country that provided comprehensive and free schooling.

Duncan McLaughlin -  AUSTRALIA
As part of the Blue Wolf Totem Expedition, I’ve committed to raising at least USD$4K for the Veloo Foundation’s Children of the Peak Sanctuary Project.
This is the real-deal. None of your donation is skimmed off: It all stays in Mongolia to help move the children of displaced nomads off the rubbish dumps and into purpose built and run kindergartens – where they are fed, nurtured and educated.

I am very excited to be heading back to Mongolia for another adventure and the opportunity to support the Veloo Foundation’s work on behalf of the Children of the Peak. This is the chance to experience more of Mongolia’s mind-blowing landscapes, wonderful people, and incredible horses while contributing to a truly important effort.

My trips horse trekking through outer Mongolia last May AND the previous July were two of the most incredible experiences of my life. An opportunity to repeat it and raise money for the kindergarten absolutely floats my boat. The ride was challenging in all elements. The weather, sitting on that horse for 8 hours!!! But the rewards were over the top. The friendships developed will last a lifetime. My family frankly was surprised when I decided to return to repeat my ride. My son thought it was a bucket list item and now had been crossed off. I told him no. I must return!
I am so looking forward to going back to Mongolia to join the Blue Wolf Totem!  3,600kms in 84 days of riding is going to be an epic challenge for me and all of it to support the Children!

I feel so privileged to be born in a country and grew up in a warm family with enough food and so many possibilities. I don’t want to take that for granted. By raising money for this charity, I hope to give something back.
Please give what you can to support this organisation. The projects involve a number of initiatives which work in concert to improve the lives of the children and families who subsist by scavenging at the Ulaanchuuluut Garbage dump in Mongolia and other impoverished people in the area.

Julia Fisher  - USA

It’s cliché that ‘Children are our future’. And we pay lip service to that while repetition without action renders it trite. Many democratic countries struggle to get their citizenry invested enough in children to financially support basics like food and shelter much less a quality education. I feel strongly that care and attention to children is one of the most telling barometers of the humanity of a society. Children are abused and dismissed and neglected and trafficked and literally killed worldwide. The Veloo Foundation is acting. I am so excited to be able to have this opportunity to explore the Mongolian countryside in a way that not only offers me personally a glorious experience, but also contributes in such a fundamental way to the physical / mental / academic health of the children.

Before coming to Mongolia, I had never ridden a horse before. I arrived here in August, ready for new experiences and adventures but not imagining that I would find both on horseback. I have found riding to be one of the best ways to explore the vast and beautiful Mongolian countryside and to learn more about Mongolian culture through the people and animals I have encountered. Riding across the Mongolian steppe I have gained an appreciation and respect for the nomadic herders who are more in touch with their basic human roots than anyone I have ever met before.

Julie Veloo - Canada

I am beyond excited that this ride is, after two years of Covid madness coming together and making such a difference in the lives of the children.

Please join Team Julie, make a donation and let's go for a ride together across all the magic that is Mongolia!
