Janelle Whyte, Australia"The Mongolian people are the kindest on the earth and I feel privileged to be able to repay some of that kindness by raising money to help some of the most disadvantaged and marginalized children in the country, whose families are scavenging on the garbage dump to survive. The Veloo Foundation‘s Children of the Peak Sanctuary project provides them with warmth, food and a beginning to their educational journey at their two kindergartens. "

LYNN MARKSThe Blue Wolf Totem Expedition is an amazing opportunity to raise funds for the Veloo Foundation’s Children Of The Peak Sanctuary Project. Their initiative is dedicated to empowering, and changing the lives of disadvantaged children of displaced nomadic families in the Ulaanbaatar neighbourhood in Mongolia who have been forced to survive from what they and their families could scavenge from the local dump. The Veloo Foundation’s commitment to feed, educate, nurture and contribute to healing through love; all the while advocating for their mothers to find new purpose and meaning in their lives, is nothing short of miraculous.

DEREK BURROWSVisiting the Veloo Foundation’s Children of the Peak Sanctuary and Gandys Community Library has shown me the transformative impact this vibrant space has on children, teens, and families in a resource-limited community. Libraries have always been important to our family — Doris, a teacher-librarian, and our sons, Oliver and Jens, were deeply involved with them.
I’m riding in the 2026 Blue Wolf Totem Expedition to raise funds for the Foundation’s vital work. In honor of our remarkable son Jens, who passed away at 28, Doris and I will match every donation up to $3,500 USD. |
MISTI BERRYHi there! I’m Misti Berry. I grew up in western South Dakota where the nearest town was 45 minutes away. In 2017, I had the opportunity to represent my hometown church on a mission trip to Mongolia. While visiting for a month, I grew a great respect for the cultures there and became aware of some of the needs this country has. While in Mongolia, I was a part of building both an orphanage and a drug rehabilitation center. Since returning to South Dakota, I have been longing to return to Mongolia, not just to experience it more, but also to continue to lend a helping hand. I am very excited for this opportunity to show my support for the people of Mongolia again.

BETSY COOKSEYHorse trekking through outer Mongolia in 2018, 2019, May 2021, 2022, 2023, and June 2024 were some of the most incredible experiences of my life. The chance to do it again while raising funds for the kindergarten is truly irresistible. The ride was tough — enduring all weather conditions and spending 8 hours a day in the saddle — but the rewards were beyond measure, and the friendships made will last a lifetime.
My family was surprised when I decided to return, thinking it was just a bucket list adventure. But I told them, "No, I must return!" At 70, and for the rest of my life, I will proudly be a philanthropic athlete. Please consider donating to support the children and help make a difference, one child at a time. |
