An Evening Under Mongolian Stars  Sep. 22, 2018

Let's all enjoy a wonderful Mongolian cultural evening, learning about Mongolia & helping the children!

The Evening Under Mongolian Stars joint fundraiser is an opportunity to experience the magic of real Mongolian culture while supporting children in reaching their full potential at both Cedar Bridge School and at Narnii Huuhduud (Children of the Peak Sanctuary).

This event will be held at Vernon’s Paddlewheel Park Hall on Saturday, September 22, 2018.

This is a charity event to benefit

Narnii Huuhduud (Children of the Peak Sanctuary) Project & Cedar Bridge School
100% of all proceeds will go directly to help  children.

Here's a look at some of the children and families you'll be helping...

Children of the Peak Sanctuary Kindergarten feeds, warms and educates 129 children who would otherwise likely be at the dump with their family or home alone

Of course, we also teach all the reading, writing and arithmetic that children need to be successful in primary school

Lots and lots of books and reading....and soon, our Brad Winters Community Library will be open too!

In conjunction with our local NGO partner we offer remedial education & vocational training for children who don't go to school

Our vocational training initiatives are targeted to help teens and our parents who otherwise would be scavenging in the garbage.

Community outreach projects have provided gers for over 30 homeless families, food hampers & coal for over 300 families and warm & new clothes for hundreds and hundreds of children and families.

Our Peak Scholars programmes supports children who previously were at the dump and are now on scholarship at local private school

The value of friendship for these children cannot be overestimated.

Our Peak Foster Care Programme cares for up to 5 children at a time while their parents receive alcohol or parenting counselling with the goal to reunite the family if at all possible to do so safely for the child.

Soaring Crane Summer Camp will be helping 300 children learn about human rights, career opportunities, Mongolian traditional culture and practises...and how to just have fun and be a kid!

We currently have 23 staff members - 7 of whom previously scavenged at the garbage dump to survive. 17 of our staff members had never previously had a "real" job.
