A Message from Alisha:
Well here I am, putting my hand up for another round of the Gobi Gallop. I completed the Gobi Gallop last year 2024 & I thought that would be it, bucket list done. But in fact, it was such a transformative experience resonating with my heritage & sense of self. I had connected with my grandfather's droving history, riding horses out on the untamed valleys & wide open spaces. I connected with my mum's love of children, knowing I was helping give them a better start in life. I also completed the 2024 ride with my dad (riding the steel horse gallop on a motorcycle) He gave me the confidence to grow & feel like I could take on this adventure independently this time.
Part way through the ride one of the riders asked me 'did I miss anything from home' where I was taken back to realise, I was in fact truly happy in everyway for the first time in a long time.
So why am I going back? You'll see there have been many repeat offenders before me. Going back gives you the ability to reflect on that first experience & realise there's so much more to learn, absorb, appreciate & see. I'd like to truly own the journey this time. The Gobi Gallop is an event that offers not only a physical challenge, but a profound emotional & spiritual connection.
So please, follow me to Mongolia again, 1km at a time as I prepare to tackle the 700km in 10 days on the native Mongolian horses again. I'll be raising funds for the Veloo Foundation, helping the children of the Peak Kindergarten get a better start in life. A charity that prides itself on providing & improving the education & other essential services to the underprivileged children in the country.
Maybe one-day, you'll be here doing the ride yourself
