Why I Want to Ride the Gobi Gallop....
In the wilds of Mongolia, life is tenuous - a drought can radically change a way of life that has existed for thousands of years. It isn’t pretty. To see a rich and proud people’s life decimated and their children left to fend for themselves or scavenge at the dump is immensely sobering.
In Jasper National Park I live a life of comfort and abundance. I am privileged beyond measure. I love my community and my country - but I love the world too. I am a global citizen. I give back.
I came upon the work of the Veloo Foundation - The Children of the Peak Sanctuary and the Gobi Gallop by accident; I am deeply impressed by the work that they do and the way that they do it. It did not take me long to fill in my application for the Gobi Gallop. I was the last person accepted to the ride, I am privileged and honoured to have this opportunity. The timing was all perfect - it fell into place just as it always does when you make the right decision.
My horse experience is rich and varied, but the decision to do the Gobi Gallop came not from a need to add another notch to my equestrian belt, but the need to step back from competition, horse politics, and just ‘be’. I’m trusting that my horses will forgive me for being away during prime riding season; but ‘they know’ that our relationship will be richer for it.

I’ve set my fundraising goal at $10,000.00 dollars - considerably more than the ‘required’ amount.
I hope you will support us on the Gallop - no amount is too small, it all matters.
And just so you know all of the money raised goes to the children, I will pay all of my own expenses for getting there and doing this.
The Veloo Foundation is a registered Charity in the Canada and the US, so qualified donors will receive a tax receipt for their contributions.
